Projectizing is owned, developed and maintained by Carlos Eduardo Martins Serra, an enthusiastic Project Management Professional with over 20 years’ experience in Project, Programme and Portfolio Management. Carlos has been working in project management since 1999 across a variety of market sectors, countries and roles for companies such as Exxon Mobil, Petrobras, Lloyd’s Register and Gazprom Marketing and Trading. It included managing projects and programmes, implementing and leading PMO functions and leading teams of Project Managers. He has designed, implemented and improved project, programme and portfolio management frameworks for many organisations.

Carlos Eduardo Martins SerraOn the academic side, he has been a researcher, an international speaker, a trainer and a guest lecturer for MBA and MSc programmes, has written books and articles, has won awards and has been a reviewer for journals such as the International Journal of Project Management and the Project Management Journal. He is a project supervisor for the Masters in Programme and Project Management of the University of Warwick.

In 2012, he won the APM Benefits Management SIG Postgraduate Student Award due to his master’s research at the University of Warwick. The results of the research fed into his article ‘Benefits Realisation Management and its influence on project success and on the execution of business strategies’ (2015 IJPM), which was the first academic evidence of the positive influence of benefits realisation management practices on the perceptions of strategically aligned project success. He is the author of the book ‘Benefits Realization Management: Strategic Value from Portfolios, Programs and Projects’ (2016, CRC press), which is one of the most comprehensive books on the subject of benefits realisation management. He is also the author of ‘Gerenciamento da Realização de Benefícios’ (2018, Brasport), which is the first complete book about the subject to be published in the Portuguese language.

As a recognition of his knowledge in the area of benefits realisation management, he was invited to be a reviewer of Benefits Realization Management: A Practice Guide (2019, Project Management Institute), which has one of his books and two of his articles listed as references.

He is a certified PMP (PMI), APMP (APM), IPMA-D (IPMA), Prince2 Practitioner, PMO-CP and ScrumMaster, holding an MSc degree in programme and project management (University of Warwick) and a BSc degree in production engineering (CEFET-RJ/Brazil).
